AUGUST - A BLUE DOT

Recently I read some which Carol Sagan wrote: "From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there—on the mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."

"In February 1990, Voyager 1 took one last photograph of its home planet. Earth appeared as a tiny blue dot in a vast sea of darkness."
You can find out more about his thinking on this website:
http://www.carlsagan.com/
and see the dot which he refers to.

Then I received an e-mail from David Suzuki who states that"

"This classic photograph of the Earth was taken on December 7, 1972. The original caption is reprinted below: View of the Earth as seen by the Apollo 17 crew traveling toward the moon. This translunar coast photograph extends from the Mediterranean Sea area to the Antarctica south polar ice cap. This is the first time the Apollo trajectory made it possible to photograph the south polar ice cap. Note the heavy cloud cover in the Southern Hemisphere. Almost the entire coastline of Africa is clearly visible. The Arabian Peninsula can be seen at the northeastern edge of Africa. The large island off the coast of Africa is the Malagasy Republic. The Asian mainland is on the horizon toward the northeast." He is starting a Canada wide tour  www.bluedot.ca from September 24 to November 9, I'm crossing the country, from St. John's, Newfoundland, to Victoria, B.C., with 20 stops along the way. The plan is to work with Canadians from all walks of life to protect the people and places we love. It's the most important thing I've ever done.”

WORLD EVENTS AND CONCERNS - just to name a few

2.      Droughts in so many places in the world
3.      Flooding out of control in other parts of the world
4.      Fires out of control in other parts of the world
5.      Wars escalating and thousands of innocent people being killed – massacred
6.      Refugee numbers escalating
7.      Immigration crisis on the increase
8.      Cold war looming
9.      Political unrest spreading globally with a
10.  A growing feeling of powerlessness amongst people
11.  Oceans, Lakes and rivers being polluted
12.  Temperatures increasing in some parts of our Globe while they drop in other parts
13.  GMO products increasing
14.  Pesticides being used which is killing off bees which has decreased pollination
