Well now, the book is well and truly launched. All the endorsements and reviews have been duly inserted into the website so they are able to be read anytime by anyone.
I have spent a great deal of time now doing "social networking" which is a growing field and growing art and something I am still learning to be creative with. Any help appreciated!
I have made quite a few significant contacts and joined various groups, which have been helpful, because I have learned something new each time. That is, something new about writing, publishing or spirituality and its relevance or its understanding in experience of others.
I've learned even more significantly and relevantly aspects of the publishing field itself. Of course it is not the same as even a few years ago. There are now so many books being put out, either being self-published or by publishers, most of whom are struggling to stay afloat in this changing environment of the written word. Even if books get onto the selves of a bookstore they are off it very soon afterwards to make room for the newer books. e-books are popular, easier to carry around in one's kindle, kobo or whatever.
For me - I often wonder why I persisted in writing this book. I got my Doctorate in 2003 and then just continued on researching and writing - attempting to turn what we had learned into something which could be shared with others. That is, with others outside the field of "academia" in spirituality. That was and is a tall order. The word "Spirituality", it seems, is just as misunderstood a word as it was years ago. There is much more being said and written about it from even more perspectives and understandings.
I still lean more on the academic side I suppose, mainly because I was and am very interested in sharing, what I call an "authentic understanding of spirituality" with others. There are lots of theologians, theorists, psychologists, new age practitioners and so on, sharing various comments, experiences and teachings. Of course, an understanding of spirituality includes all of life, inner and outer, psychological, global, our cosmos and environmental earth home. General understandings of these aspects are proliferating and intertwining at such a pace, it is difficult to keep abreast.
Enough for now. I welcome dialogue or ideas from people willing to engage in such exchanges.
